Viktor Gyokeres’ transfer saga has seemed to have taken a massive turn, with fresh reports claiming that Arsenal are planning on advancing negotiations with Sporting’s no. 9 in the coming days.

As reported by ESPN, a meeting was held between Gyokeres and the Arsenal representatives last week, despite Sporting’s president Frederico Varandas stating that there have been no contacts made by any clubs for Gyokeres.

The statement evidently had made the Swedish no. 9 “furious”, who took to his official Instagram account to break his silence, stating, “There is a lot of talks at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right.” (sic)

This recent online altercation clearly showcases the strained relationship between Gyokeres and the club, hinting at an inevitable move for the Swedish no. 9 this summer as Arsenal plan to advance their talks with his camp.

Arsenal “strongly interested” in Viktor Gyokeres

As reported by Nuno Farinha from CNN Portugal, Gyokeres’ agent was spotted having a discussion with Arsenal executives last week, who were reportedly discussing the terms and conditions of making a potential move.

In his recent report, Nuno Farina stated, “Arsenal is the club that Gyokeres has wanted from the very beginning. Gyokeres wants to play for Arsenal; he has stated this desire very openly to his agent. (sic)

He further added, “Officially, there has not been an offer yet, but there have been many contacts. This time, it seems that there will be [an offer].”

Gyokeres’ signing will be a task of great difficulty

As expected, it will not be easy for the Gunners to pursue a move for Gyokeres, especially with Sporting CP’s president, Frederico Varandas, wanting to play the “hardball” in his star striker’s transfer saga and sale.

As per reports, Sporting will not be accepting any offers below €70 million for their star forward, which has already discouraged several clubs like Manchester United from trying to make a move for Gyokeres.

Confirming these reports, Farinha later added, “Now blackmail and insults, Sporting will not accept. One thing is certain: Sporting will not accept 60 million plus 10. As of today, Sporting has not received any proposal for Gyokeres,” the president stated earlier today.”

Varandas’ stance has majorly upset Gyokeres and his camp, who expected better support from the Sporting management in his sale, having contributed immensely to the club’s recent success.
