Marc-André ter Stegen is reported to be “furious” and “unhappy” with his situation at Barcelona amidst major fan trolling and calls for his imminent departure.
Amidst this chaos, the Catalan giants have signed Joan Garcia from Espanyol, who, as per reports, is set to be the first-choice goalkeeper for Hansi Flick and the team for the upcoming season.
As per Goal, Barca’s signing of Garcia has reportedly “frustrated” Ter Stegen, who is reported to be upset over the lack of trust shown to him by the club, which seems evident in their latest GK signing.
Nagelsmann comes out in Ter Stegen’s support
Ter Stegen’s national team head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, also came out in his support, calling for stabilising this situation as early as possible.
In a recent interview, Nagelsmann spoke about Ter Stegen’s situation at Barcelona and said, “Given the past of the protagonists, I hope he receives information about what will happen next. That is my wish for Marc.” (sic)
He further added, “It’s really difficult for me to evaluate because I only hear about it from the media, and I don’t know how much truth there is in it. [Ter Stegen] can approach the situation relatively relaxed. Nevertheless, I believe, as humans, that it concerns you.” (sic)
Nagelsmann’s words would surely provide the support that the Barcelona no. 1 desperately needs at the moment; however, they also confirm that the German goalkeeper’s situation with the Catalan giants has surely grown even more uncertain.
Some reports have claimed that Ter Stegen is also considering looking at his options in case his minutes at Barcelona are to be limited to a great extent due to Garcia’s arrival.
