As reported by Gazetta Dello Sport, AC Milan’s new boss Massimiliano Allegri has initiated his transfer plans and wants to sign French midfield maestro Adrien Rabiot as one of his first signings since taking charge at Milan.

Currently, the French midfielder is playing for FC Marseille and has been a crucial part of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad, with the 2024/25 season in particular being a stellar one for Rabiot, where he scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 29 Ligue 1 matches.

On top of that, his consistent performances guided Marseille to secure a UEFA Champions League qualification for the next season, which further highlights the 30-year-old’s importance to De Zerbi and Marseille.

Adrien Rabiot’s future: Can a move possibly be on the cards for the Frenchman?

Despite Rabiot’s importance to Marseille, the Rossoneri might end up securing a permanent move for the 30-year-old to Milan, with reports indicating that the Frenchman might be open to a departure in the coming summer.

In a recent interview, Rabiot opened up about his future, where he stated, "Playing Champions League football with Marseille will be incredible. Personally, I don't want to speculate about next season.” (sic)

He further stated, “We'll take time to discuss with President Longoria and Mehdi Benatia," indicating that a possible move elsewhere might be considered by the French midfielder.

However, on the contrary, Marseille's sporting director Benatia seemed very optimistic about finding harmony between Rabiot and the club so that his stay at Marseille lingers for a long time.

In a recent interview, when questioned about Rabiot’s future, Benatia said, "We sealed the deal with Rabiot in early September, and by the end of August, the coach was happy with the squad. Strengthening the team is always on our mind, and I echo that sentiment.” (sic)

For AC Milan, who currently appear to be a sinking ship with major leaks in the midfield, getting a technically strong midfielder like Rabiot, who even has previous experience of playing in the Serie A, could be a game-changing move for the Italian giants.
