Recent reports from GOAL have indicated a possible shock move for Liverpool’s star goalie Alisson Becker, linking him to Turkish champions Galatasaray.
Gala, who are in search of a goalkeeper, are keen on signing an experienced and quality shot-stopper to replace their ageing veteran keeper, Fernando Muslera, and the Liverpool no. 1 fits the bill perfectly.
As also reported by Turkish journalist Ali Naci Kucak, Alisson is one of the biggest transfer targets of the summer for Galatasaray, amidst their attempts to also sign Victor Osimhen on a permanent deal.
The arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was signed by the Reds last summer and loaned out to Valencia for the remainder of the previous season, will provide competition to Alisson for a spot between the posts; however, he is expected to be the Brazilian’s backup.
However, his arrival can even indicate that Liverpool might soon be planning to replace their ageing superstar goalkeeper, which could mean more game time for Marmadashvili and a potential departure for Alisson.
Galatasaray’s interest has further been fuelled by Alisson’s recent decision to lower his wage demands from £400,000 per week to just £250,000 per week.
Alisson declares his commitment to Liverpool and confirms his stay despite the rumours
Despite being linked with numerous clubs in Saudi Arabia and Europe, Alisson Becker has confirmed his decision to continue with the Reds, still being a crucial part of the squad.
The 32-year-old stated that he intends to fulfil his current contract with the club, which is valid for two more years, with an option to add another year.
When asked about interest from other clubs in a recent interview, Alisson stated, "I never thought about leaving; I had always decided to stay. I have two years plus one – the club’s choice – to stay here at Liverpool. So I will not leave now, and I never thought about that.” (sic)
Further reports have also claimed that the 32-year-old would only leave Liverpool if the club board agrees to sell him, which doesn't look likely anytime soon.
The Brazilian international was pivotal once again for the Reds and helped them lift their historic 20th league title this season, putting up match-winning displays on a regular basis for his team while also keeping 9 clean sheets in the league.
Despite suffering multiple injuries over the course of the last two seasons, Alisson has remained Liverpool's undisputed no. 1, suggesting that the Reds have absolutely no intentions of selling their star shot-stopper.
