Manchester United and former Real Madrid star midfielder, Casemiro, has reportedly received the axe from the new manager, Ruben Amorim, and is likely to leave Manchester United as soon as possible, potentially even before the end of the current season.

The 32-year-old has featured for just 20 minutes in United's last five games, having been criticized lately for being sloppy and lethargic on the pitch on many occasions.

Additionally, he is one of the highest earners at the club, pocketing around £375,000 a week, making his presence appear like a big burden on the strained finances of Manchester United.

As per Sky Sports, the Red Devils were eager to part ways with Casemiro in the winter window, but the lack of options in the midfield forced them not to.

Brazilian club Flamengo have shown interest in signing the five-time Champions League winner on a possible loan move. According to the reports from FootBoom, the Brazilian club is ready to even pay all his wages.

Casemiro might also love a return to Brazil, the place where it all began for him.

What went wrong for Casemiro at Manchester United?

When the discussion is about Casemiro, we talk about one of the most decorated midfielders of all time. He was a part of the iconic midfield trio at Real Madrid, comprising him, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric, who dominated Europe for several years.

The 32-year-old aimed to carry the same legacy at Manchester United, just like his former Real teammate Raphael Varane, who also joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2022. However, eventually, all both got at Old Trafford were disappointments and criticism.

Casemiro's performances dipped along with his confidence since the last season. Ruben Amorim's appointment didn't change his situation as well, as the Brazilian just cannot keep up with the pace and physicality of the Premier League anymore.

The Portuguese manager also feels that the 32-year-old is too slow for his system now, and he won't be able to adapt. Therefore, Casemiro will most likely leave Manchester United as soon as possible.
