Manchester City’s clash against Newcastle United resulted in one of their best wins of the season, with new signing Omar Marmoush scoring his first-ever goal and hat trick for the club.
The Egyptian forward grabbed a first-half treble within just 33 minutes into the game. Substitute James McAtee added a fourth in the second half to seal the game by a scoreline of 4-0 for the Citizens.
City's star between the sticks, Ederson, also had a memorable game as he created history by becoming the goalkeeper with the most number of assists in the Premier League, as he provided a superb ball for Marmoush's first goal.
Despite it seeming like the perfect night under the lights at the Etihad, the City fans are still left worried and stressed due to Erling Haaland’s concerning injury, which forced him off the field in the final few minutes of the game.
Pep Guardiola provides Haaland’s injury update amidst ACL concerns
Around the 85th minute mark, Erling Haaland went down with what looked like a possible knee injury, with concerns echoing all around the stadium.
Pep Guardiola also looked visibly concerned as Haaland went down off the ball without being tackled.
Videos of the game posted later on the internet showed that City's No. 9 appeared to twist his knee with his boot stuck in the ground, which raises massive concerns regarding a possible ACL injury.
However, Pep Guardiola has provided a relieving update regarding Erling Haaland, stating that he is “hopeful” that his star striker will be back for the crucial second leg clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Speaking after the Newcastle game, as per MSN, Guardiola said, “I didn’t speak to him or the doctors, but the doctors didn’t come with bad news, so hopefully he is fine. Maybe it’s not as bad as it could be.”
He further added, “When he was down, everyone was scared, but he got up and walked smiling like always."
