The fans witnessed another thrilling clash between Liverpool and Newcastle United on Monday night, where the 16-year-old prodigy Rio Ngumoha, who is a product of Chelsea FC's famous Cobham academy, became the Premier League champions' saviour in the dying embers of the game by scoring the winning goal for the Reds.

With his stunning first-time strike at the 90+10th minute, Ngumoha became the fourth youngest goalscorer ever in the history of the Premier League at just the age of 16 years and 361 days.

After suffering a shocking comeback from a 10-man Newcastle United, Liverpool boss Arne Slot turned towards his 16-year-old star and brought him on at the 96th minute of the game, after a total of 11 minutes were added on in injury time.

While these 11 minutes appeared to come as a huge advantage to the hosts, who had the momentum in their favour. However, fate had other plans, as the 16-year-old made history and grabbed all the headlines from an absolute classic at St James' Park.

After the epic clash, fans started to question Chelsea for selling such a great academy product like Ngumoha on free transfer to Liverpool, while some called out the club management for neglecting young talents and prioritising buying star players to build their squad.

A dream debut for Rio Ngumoha: How the 16-year-old created history

When everyone thought the 4-goal thriller was going to end in a draw, Mohamed Salah squared a grounded pass across the six-yard box, directed towards Dominik Szoboszlai, who did a sensational dummy to leave it for Rio Ngumoha in completely open space.

Despite being in the clear, the ball was coming in at a difficult pace for the young English star, making it a challenging finish for him. The 16-year-old, however, making his first appearance at the big stage, went in for a first-time strike and buried the ball at the back of the net.

As the ball hit the back of Nick Pope's goal, the entire visiting Liverpool crowd at St James' Park went absolutely wild as Ngumoha created history while grabbing all three points for the Reds in an extremely difficult clash.

It wasn't the first time, however, that the world got a glimpse of what a talent Ngumoha is, as the Englishman had even impressed during Liverpool's preseason fixtures as well, where he registered 2 goals and 2 assists in just 4 appearances.

Legendary forward Thierry Henry also expressed his delight at Ngumoha's debut by stating, "He announced himself. He looked like a player that had been playing for a very long time with the way he finished." (sic)
