Marcus Rashford returns to Manchester United from FC Barcelona, while Hansi Flick bids farewell

Marcus Rashford's loan at FC Barcelona has ended, and the England international has returned to Manchester United after spending the previous season with the Catalan giants, helping them win the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga title.
Barça ultimately decided against permanently signing Rashford, while Manchester United turned down the option of another loan deal, forcing the player to return to Old Trafford.
Rashford, on the other hand, was an important member of Hansi Flick's team last season and left the club with fan respect and even Flick's admiration.
The Barcelona manager has revealed that he will miss Rashford, who returned to Manchester after a successful loan spell at Barcelona, where he proved his doubters wrong.
The Catalan giants were willing to sign him permanently for a lower fee, but the signings of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and Karim Adyemi from Borussia Dortmund put an end to the 28-year-old's chances.
"You don't know what happens with players who are on loan; our situation is not easy for that," said Flick. (sic)
"But I appreciate working with him [Rashford]. He is a fantastic player and a fantastic person. The team miss him, I will miss him, but it is life.” (sic)
He further added, "This is what we have to accept. And in the end, Anthony Gordon comes, and from the first call with him when I spoke with him, he is on fire with Barça, and I'm really happy that he's on our team.” (sic)
When Rashford joined Barcelona last summer, the move provided an opportunity for the Englishman to restart his career, which had been stalled at Manchester United under former manager Ruben Amorim. After falling out of favour due to an inconsistent run of form and disciplinary issues, the England forward regained his best form under Flick.
The 28-year-old scored 14 goals and assisted 11 times in 49 appearances across all competitions, earning him a call-up to the England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time since his last appearance for the Three Lions at the UEFA Euro 2021.
Although his loan spell at Barcelona did not result in a dream permanent move, Rashford demonstrated glimpses of the player who was once regarded as one of Europe's most talented forwards.
His pace, directness, and versatility added a whole new dimension to Flick's attack, and the way he adapted to Barcelona's style of football, which is very different from that of the Premier League, drew widespread praise from Flick and his coaches.
Throughout the season, the Barcelona manager praised Rashford's commitment and professionalism. It's a significant comment from the manager, as it will boost the Englishman's confidence even more as he seeks a return to the Manchester United starting lineup under Michael Carrick.
Rashford will now return to a Manchester United side that has changed dramatically since his last competitive appearance for them. The Red Devils are in a transitional period, reshaping their squad to compete with the best teams in the Premier League.
However, Manchester United are still undecided about whether to sell him or give him a long-term role at the club.
At his best, Rashford is one of England's most dangerous forwards, capable of changing games on his own. His performance in the 2022-23 season under Erik Ten Hag demonstrated the extent of his talent.
The most important question is his consistency. He's been inconsistent, leading the club to consider whether a fresh start somewhere else would be best for both the club and the player.
For the time being, however, the picture is straightforward: Marcus Rashford plays for Manchester United. He comes to the pre-season camp with valuable experience and confidence from one of Europe's top clubs.
Time will tell if this homecoming marks the start of a revival or simply another stop before a permanent departure elsewhere.
