Manchester United are keen on strengthening their attacking prowess in the current transfer window after having scored just 44 goals in 38 Premier League games.
As a result, the Red Devils have decided to offer a swap deal in a sensational player + cash deal for Frankfurt's star striker Hugo Ekitike. As per reports, the club is prepared to offer Joshua Zirkzee as a part of this deal.
Manager Ruben Amorim has made it clear that he seeks reinforcements up top in the no. 9 position and has been frustrated with his current options, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund. The Portuguese manager does also have the newly signed Matheus Cunha at his disposal now but still demands at least one more striker signing.
United have already made a big statement in an attempt to improve their squad with the signings of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon so far while negotiating a deal with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo to solve their no. 10 crisis as well. Along with Mbeumo, Hugo Ekitike is also on the Red Devils' priority list.
According to CaughtOffside, the club representatives are currently in discussions with Ekitike’s camp and plan to begin formal negotiations with Frankfurt soon, despite Chelsea's interest in the player.
Manchester United will be aiming to take revenge on Chelsea by snatching Hugo Ekitike from the Blues, who hijacked a move for their initial transfer target, Liam Delap.
How will Manchester United sign Ekitike to fix their ‘problematic’ striker issue?
Manchester United are in a complete mess at the moment both financially and sportingly as well. However, the club is planning to make huge moves in order to compete with their arch-rivals like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Despite their strong interest, Man United do not have the funds to sign Hugo Ekitike at the moment, as Frankfurt have set a mammoth price tag of £85.5m on their no. 9, which is not feasible unless the club makes some player sales.

The Red Devils 'are already ready to offer Joshua Zirkzee to Frankfurt as part of a swap deal, which could potentially reduce the amount on the wage bill.
Rasmus Højlund is also linked to a move to Serie A side Inter Milan, with the Italian giants having already held talks with the Danish striker over a possible move back to Serie A.
Højlund and Zirkzee managed to score only 17 goals combined last season, and the club views new targets like Mbeumo and Ekitike as a huge upgrade to their attacking options in the current squad.
