Manchester City have signed Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace for £20m on a five-year deal. The English defender, who was linked with Liverpool last summer, agreed on terms with City in a matter of weeks.

Guehi has been a pillar for Crystal Palace, leading them to their first trophy last season beating Manchester City in the final. He also made 33 appearances this season for the Eagles, also leading them in their first campaign in the UEFA Conference League.

This is the second signing from Pep Guardiola and co. following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. The Ghana international too was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier in the summer, but the Reds couldn't materialise a deal.

Guehi announced his move to Man City with joy and is eager to step up in his career.

"This move feels like the culmination of all the hard work I have put into my career," said the English defender. (sic)

"I am now at the best club in England and part of an unbelievable squad of players. It feels good to be able to say that.” (sic)

Guehi has passed the medical tests and will likely make his debut for the club against Wolves on Saturday in the Premier League.

Shocking loss to Bodø/Glimt shows why Manchester City needed Guehi at the back

Manchester City have their two key defenders, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol out for months due to injury. The Cityzens crashed to a defeat against neighbours Manchester United as Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov and Max Alleyne were in the backline.

These lads are too young and inexperienced at the big stage, and need a leader at the back to help them grow and learn from their mistakes. Defending was a huge weakness for City in their Champions League clash against Bodø/Glimt who stunned Pep Guardiola and co.

Marc Guehi will not only add leadership at the backline but also much-needed experience and quality. He is easily one of the best centre-backs in England right now and ranks inside the top ten for securing the most clean sheets, duel wins, and passes into the final third.

The Englishman is brilliant on the ball, which would make him a perfect fit for Pep’s style of football. He is a brilliant carrier of the ball, which would provide a huge advantage against low-block teams, which usually create problems for Man City.

The Citizens are trailing behind Arsenal in the league, and with all the injuries, Marc Guehi could play a huge role if Pep Guardiola’s side manages to topple the Gunners and clinch the league title.
