Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo is set to leave Bournemouth in the winter transfer window, and as per reports, Manchester City seems to be his next destination.
Pep Guardiola and co. are in advanced talks with the forward, who is set to make his final decision soon. Rivals Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also enquired about the 25-year-old, who has a £65 million release clause in this transfer window.
The player prefers a move towards Man City, which made Man Utd opt out from the deal, while Chelsea wanted to sign him at a lower price.
Defending champions Liverpool desperately need to sign a forward after Alexander Isak injured his leg, but the Reds have already spent a lot in the summer.
Semenyo’s release clause will be active only for the first 10 days of January, which is why he agreed to sign a new contract in July. This is the best possible scenario for the Cherries to sell him, as his price tag will lower significantly next summer.
The 25-year-old seeks a club where he can compete for major trophies on a long run. Guardiola's Man City ticks all boxes.
"A situation we cannot control, but Antoine right now is our player, going to continue playing for us.” (sic)
If you ask me, I definitely don't want to lose him, definitely don't. But every time the market opens, you never know what is going to happen,” said Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola in an interview. (sic)
Will Semenyo become an unfair advantage to Manchester City in the title race?
Manchester City are trailing Arsenal in the Premier League title race and have decided to strengthen their frontline by signing one of the most consistent forwards right now in the league – Antoine Semenyo.
The Ghana international is a perfect blend of speed and accuracy in front of goal, which will give City a huge advantage from the right wing. Guardiola's side have often struggled to create chances from the right flank, which has cost them dearly in some games this year.
The Citizens have also faced multiple injury issues in the squad. Therefore, the addition of Semenyo might prove to be a huge game changer in the title race this season.
As per reports, Savinho might leave City to accommodate Semenyo, and it seems to be a wise decision from the Manchester giants. Tottenham are also desperate to sign a winger in this window and are reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian youngster.
Man City are just 2 points behind Arsenal in the league table and have won 5 games on the trot. Bolstering the frontline by adding Semenyo shows clear intent from the club to topple Arsenal from the top and win the league yet again.
Erling Haaland is in the form of his life, Phil Foden is back to his usual best, and adding Antoine Semenyo to this attack might prove to be the most clever move of this season.
