Inter Milan are plotting an ambitious move for Stuttgart's "Toni Kroos regen" as a replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu, whose exit seems to be imminent this summer after the Nerazzurri's shock exit from the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Turkish international has reportedly had a serious rift with club captain Lautaro Martinez and the club president Beppe Marotta following an embarrassing exit at the disappointing defeat against Brazilian club Fluminense, pushing him closer to an exit.

Calhanoglu had been one of the most underrated gems in the Nerazzurri midfield under former manager Simone Inzaghi and had cemented himself as one of the leaders on the pitch. However, his time at the club seems to be over following his nasty falloutin the dressing room.

As a result, the Italian giants have begun looking for suitable replacements in order to let the Turkish midfielder leave. for a transfer fee of at least €40 million, with Galatasaray, Manchester United and Fulham showing interest in the 31-year-old.

As reported by top Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, the Champions League finalists have shortlisted German midfielder Angelo Stiller as the top replacement for the Turk.

The 24-year-old has attracted interest from Real Madrid as well and has constantly been drawing comparisons with midfield maestro Toni Kroos. Stuttgart have set a price tag of €40m for their young talent, which looks like an absolute steal considering the currently inflated transfer market.

Lautaro Martinez sparks a “revolution” in the Inter Milan dressing room following their CWC exit

Fluminense pulled off arguably the biggest upset of the Club World Cup as they knocked out Champions League finalists Inter Milan in the R016, which made skipper Lautaro Martinez furious as he lashed out at his teammates after the game, as per several reports.

Speaking to DAZN after the loss, the Argentine burst out saying, “Whoever wants to stay, stay; whoever does not want to stay should go,” Martínez told DAZN after the match. “I have seen a lot of things that I didn’t like. I want to win.” (sic.)

His comments do seem to be justified, as Inter Milan, who were on course to win a historic treble till May, crashed out drastically, as they ended up being trophyless at the end of the 2024/25 season.

The 27-year-old player's statement was aimed at Hakan Calhanoglu, who had been reportedly plotting a move to Galatasaray since the beginning of June.

His remarks have reportedly sparked a revolution in the Inter dressing room, which could prompt Davide Frattesi and Yann Bisseck to leave this summer as well.

Club President Marotta is also hoping for few transitional changes in this summer window, and he would have his work cut out if the “uninterested” players leave the club this summer following the new revolution sparked by his skipper.
