Korean international and long-serving Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-Min Son is on the verge of a departure from the club this summer as LAFC close in on securing his move before the current transfer window closes.

The MLS side are reportedly "quite confident" about securing the Korean's signature in the coming days, whose future with the Europa League champions appears to be as uncertain as ever before.

Last season, 33-year-old Son led Spurs to the Europa League glory under the management of Ange Postecoglou, which was his first silverware at the club.

However, time appears to be against the Korean captain, as he only has 12 months left on his current contract, and there is no indication from either the club or player that they will agree to a new contract extension.

On top of that, new manager Thomas Frank appeared to be determined to keep his other important players in the squad but was unable to convince the reporters about Son's case.

Thomas Frank's opinion on the potential outgoing club legend, Heung-Min Son

Upon being asked about Son's future in a previous press conference, Thomas Frank replied, “Good question. I haven’t decided anything on that. I have a long list of bullet points I need to get through, and I take them in the right order.” (sic)

He further stated, “It’s always tricky, situations like that … if that happens. Right now I have a player that is fully committed and training well and will play tomorrow. If a player has been at a club a long time, then there will always be a decision for the club to take." (sic)

It is also being reported by The Guardian that the former Brentford manager is not convinced with Son's leadership abilities and is considering handing the armband to someone else, which has further intensified the 33-year-old's complex situation.
