Aston Villa are set to make another big signing before the winter transfer window shuts, as they have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain.
A 6-month loan deal till the end of the season, with no purchase option, has been agreed upon by both clubs.
Fabrizio Romano broke the news just a few hours ago, confirming Villa’s move for the Spaniard, whom PSG were happy to let go of in order to free up another loan spot in their squad.
Marco Asensio will fly out to Birmingham today in order to complete his medical and sign all the documents and is expected to be announced as Villa’s latest signing by tomorrow.
Aston Villa’s memorable January transfer window
It has been quite a memorable transfer window for Aston Villa, who have been making the headlines very often this month.
Having already signed Donyell Malen on a permanent deal from Borussia Dortmund, along with an agreement in place to sign Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United, Asensio will be Villa's 3rd signing of the winter as they are set to complete their plan of strengthening their attack this month.
The Villains also witnessed the departure of their young striker, Jhon Durán, who signed for Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr for a staggering transfer fee of €77 million.
On top of that, the fans also witnessed the short saga of their superstar, Ollie Watkins, with Arsenal, who finally made their first move to sign the Englishman by making a bid of £60 million, which was rejected by Aston Villa.
Manager Unai Emery later confirmed Watkins' decision of staying put despite his boyhood team looking to sign him, providing a huge sigh of relief to the Villa fans.
