As reported by Sky Sports, Jhon Durán has already undergone a medical in London and is expected to put pen to paper on a long-term contract with Al-Nassr deciding to leave Aston Villa this January.
According to reports by the Birmingham Mail, Al-Nassr had initially considered signing Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen but ultimately opted for Durán in a deal worth an initial €77m (£64.5m) plus add-ons.
At his new club, Jhon Durán can form a formidable partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo, where the Portuguese legendary experience in the attacking half can combine brilliantly with the young 21-year-old’s pace and stamina.
Coach Stefano Pioli has the opportunity to help Durán take his game to the next level. The Colombian's departure from Villa Park will be heartbreaking for the fans, as he is seen as a talent with high potential.
Despite being behind Ollie Watkins in the pecking order, Durán has 12 goals in 29 appearances for Villa, and he has produced several huge moments for Unai Emery’s side this term. On the other hand, with a substantial transfer fee incoming, Villa can look to reinvest in their squad.
Emery may now possess the resources to bring his culture of football to Villa and make a return to the top of the Premier League.
As noted by 90min, West Ham United had previously tabled a £57m bid for Villa's rising star, only to be eclipsed by Al-Nassr's lucrative offer. It is still a big surprise that Saudi clubs continue to lure young players away from the European football landscape.
