This Premier League is back with its latest edition as the fans gear up for an epic title race in the 2025/26 season, with Liverpool hoping to defend their Premier League title after accomplishing a record-breaking overhaul in this summer transfer window.
The Reds lifted their 20th league title last season, despite not recruiting any high-profile players in their repertoire last summer and a major change in management, which saw the arrival of Arne Slot after an emotional exit for Jurgen Klopp.
This time, however, Liverpool have gone big in the transfer window for a change, having spent around €308m so far, with a mega move for Alexander Isak still being considered.
The Reds did suffer a shock defeat in the FA Community Shield against Crystal Palace last week, but Arne Slot and co. are still the outright favourites heading into the new campaign, as they prepare to take on Bournemouth tonight at Anfield in the Premier League season opener.
Can anyone spoil the Arne Slot party in the upcoming season of the Premier League?
Liverpool are well aware of the serious competition that they would be facing in the coming campaign, with rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City all significantly improving their squads over the summer so far.
With high-profile signings of Viktor Gyokeres, Christhian Mosquera and Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Arteta and co. would be aiming to overcome the final hurdle in the Premier League title race, which they have succumbed to for the past three seasons, and go all the way through to lift the trophy.
The addition of a lethal goalscorer, in the form of Gyokeres, could well and truly prove to be the game changer for Arsenal, who had been in the hunt for a consistent No. 9 for quite some time now.
Similarly, Manchester City have also appeared to fill the gaps in their squad of the last season, with over £150 million spent on seven signings so far, with more expected to come.
City's performance did appear to be underwhelming in the recently concluded FIFA Club World Cup, indicating that this new Manchester City might take some time to reach its best. However, one can never count Pep Guardiola and co. out of the title race, so they will be the ones to watch out for this season.
At this moment, it will be safe to say that Chelsea appear to be the strongest contenders for Liverpool for the 2025/26 title, having recently won the FIFA Club World Cup and being crowned as the champions of the world, and that too by beating a quadruple-winning Paris Saint-Germain side.
Can Chelsea beat Liverpool for the title?
Apart from their Club World Cup glory, Chelsea's tremendous recruitment this summer has also levelled them up, with their new arrivals looking as sharp as ever.
With players like Liam Delap, Joao Pedro (Brighton), Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Dario Essugo and Brazilian wonderkid Estevao, they can surely rival Liverpool for the Premier League title.
BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella has also backed the Blues to rival Arne Slot and co. for the title in the coming season, stating, "Chelsea's 3-0 win in the final of the Club World Cup against European champions Paris St-Germain was a statement that they are a force to be reckoned with."
He further added, "Manager Enzo Maresca has united a group of players who cost up to £1.4bn, according to the club's own accounts, and although the starting XIs were the youngest ever to play out a Premier League season last year, they appear to be good enough to win titles." (sic)
