England manager Thomas Tuchel has recalled Jude Bellingham to the Three Lions squad for their final round of World Cup qualifiers, but he has issued a clear warning to the Real Madrid star.
The Britishers are set to face Serbia at Wembley and Albania away from home, with qualification already secured. However, the stakes are high for Bellingham as he returns to the squad after being snubbed last time out.
The German had made himself quite clear when he dropped the Real Madrid midfielder from the last England camp: Jude needed to be at his best to fight for a spot in the Three Lions squad.
Tuchel wants to revolutionise English football, where there will be no star player bias, ensuring full focus on consistent players instead of star players no matter how big-name players they are.
The 23-year-old deserved the recall this time, as he had been in superb run of form since last month. However, one thing is quite clear: he must fight for his spot in the starting XI, as this team will not revolve around the Real Madrid superstar.
Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has already made a brilliant impression under Tuchel, while Phil Foden has also returned to his original best, which increases the competition in the England team by a margin. Bellingham needs to prove his worth to be in the German’s playing XI.
"Jude accepted the decision in the last camp. He did what he does best, competed at the highest level and showed he deserves to be in the squad. This is why he is here,” said Tuchel in a press conference. (sic)
He further added, “I think it's not a surprise for him to compete for us in the number 10 position. He knows from me, and he sees himself as a number 10; the key strength of him from number 10 is to find number nine positions. He has a hunger and determination to score, which is what we see for Real Madrid, and hopefully, we see that for us as well.” (sic)
