Omar Marmoush grabbed all the headlines with his stellar performance against Newcastle United on Saturday, having arrived at the Etihad Stadium in January as Manchester City's desperate move to improve their devastating situation this season.

The Egyptian bagged a quick-fire hat trick and lived up to his “Egyptian Prince” tag, with his performance potentially igniting the much-needed spark in Manchester City. Marmoush was able to exploit the finest spaces between the Newcastle players.

His first goal came from a sensational pass from Ederson, bypassing Dan Burn into the path of Omar, who chipped it above Martin Dubravla beautifully.

For his second, he arrived at the box just in time to tuck away Gundogan’s pass that made it through Newcastle's crowd of defenders.

The Egyptian later combined with Phil Foden and Savinho, brilliantly bagging his sensational hat trick and bamboozling Eddie Howe’s team. After a long time, Manchester City looked ruthless on the pitch, securing an emphatic 4-0 win on the road.

“Mini Rodri” to Manchester City’s rescue: Pep Guardiola heaps praises on former Barcelona midfielder

Pep Guardiola praised his new midfield signing, Nico Gonzalez, for providing much-needed stability in Manchester City’s midfield in the absence of their Ballon d'Or winner, Rodri.

The 23-year-old played a crucial role in the heart of Pep’s midfield, which has led to a period of struggle for the Cityzens this season.

The £50 million signing was pivotal against Newcastle, as he completed the most passes in the game, with a 97% passing completion rate.(100/103).

The Spaniard was everywhere on the pitch, securing a staggering 114 touches during the 94 minutes of the game. City were also able to move forward smoothly because of his stellar passes in the final third, leading to the enhanced creativity in the City midfield as well.

Defensively, Nico won all his ground duels (4/4) and even made 4 key recoveries, which is exactly what City had missed: a player with such quality in the DM role.

Speaking to the media after the game, Pep said, “He's only 23, like a mini-Rodri. The way he talks, his personality—at one point, he was even correcting Erling, telling him what to do. When you see that, you realize we'll have Rodri and him for the next six or seven years. That will give us more stability, which we have missed this season.”

He further added, "He's the type of player we were missing, his movement in behind, his pace—we usually have players who want the ball at their feet, but he likes to attack the space, which helps us create more. But when we play like we did today, everyone looks better, even the manager.”
