Harry Kane’s trophy drought has finally come to an end after the Englishman won a team trophy for the first time in his illustrious career yesterday after having previously finished as the runner-up on a regular basis for Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and even the England national team.
Kane’s infamous “trophy curse” was finally exorcised after Bayern were once again declared the Bundesliga champions following Bayer Leverkusen’s draw to Freiburg yesterday. Leverkusen's draw yesterday saw the Bavarian giants go eight points clear at the top with just 4 games left in the season, leading to their record-breaking 34th Bundesliga title.
Bayern will be presented with the trophy next weekend after their home game against rivals Borussia Monchengladbach, which will also be Thomas Müller’s final match at the Allianz Arena as a Bayern Munich player.
The 34-year-old legend, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season, also created history once again by winning his 13th Bundesliga title, becoming the player with the most number of league titles in the history of German football.
A trophy that means ‘more than anything’ for Harry Kane
While Bayern Munich’s record-breaking achievement will go down in the history books, the highlight of the season will surely be Harry Kane winning his first-ever trophy at the age of 31.
Kane, who is regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time, is also considered one of the unluckiest footballers in history, having fallen short of enjoying team-level success despite being within touching distance of winning a silverware multiple times during his 16-year-long career so far.
Therefore, the England captain winning his first-ever title has sent a wave of happiness and delight amongst fans all over the world, who believe him to be deserving of winning many more prestigious trophies at both club and international levels in the coming years.
