After the Premier League delight last week, fans and experts have raised their concerns about the long-standing Liverpool defender who might end up leaving the Merseyside giants at the end of this season after being out in the shadows since February.

As it appears, Joe Gomez, who is currently the longest-standing player in the current Liverpool squad, is on the verge of leaving the Reds in the summer, which will put an end to his 10-year-long journey at Anfield.

The Englishman’s search for a new club is reportedly influenced by Arne Slot’s plans to bring major changes to his current squad for the upcoming season, which is likely to see out-of-order players such as Gomez himself being let go in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Defensive reinforcements for Liverpool: Will Huijsen be the ideal replacement for Joe Gomez?

Many rumours have been spreading regarding Liverpool’s anticipated transfer activities in the coming transfer window, with fans expecting a hectic summer for their beloved club.

As per BBC Sport, the Merseyside giants’ top defensive target for the summer is the Bournemouth defensive pair of Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez, with the Reds having already made direct contacts with the players’ respective camps.

Huijsen, who is a man in demand, has been exceptional for the Cherries this season, which has resulted in him attracting strong interest from big clubs like Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Chelsea, along with Liverpool, who are reported to be the frontrunners in the race to sign him currently.

The 20-year-old Bournemouth centre-back possesses similar qualities to Gomez: versatility at the back, pace, composure, and being comfortable on the ball, which can surely make him an ideal replacement for the long-serving Liverpool defender.

However, the youngster will require a significant amount of time to settle in if he joins a big club like Liverpool, being expected to fill the void left by a veteran like Gomez, whose experience and passion will surely be missed by the Reds if he leaves in the summer.
