Wolverhampton Wanderers’ star forward, Matheus Cunha, is on the verge of becoming Manchester United’s first big signing of the summer.

According to Sky Sports, Wolves have no say in this deal, as United are expected to activate Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause, with talks having advanced between the Red Devils and the player's camp, who are also reportedly convinced by the club's project.

It has even been reported that Cunha wants to play for the Red Devils irrespective of their qualification for a European tournament next season.

Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim has also urged the club to sign the Brazilian international, who is deemed to be a “perfect fit” in his 3-4-2-1 formational system, which has failed to work without a clinical striker this season.

The Red Devils have struggled up front this season with their front trio of Alejandro Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund, who have failed to find consistency in front of the goal.

As a result, Manchester United have identified Cunha to solve this crisis, who has scored 15 goals in 29 appearances this season, attracting interest from several clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool as well.

Cunha's alternative demands a staggering 500% wage increase to join Manchester United

Manchester United have desperately been in search of finding a lethal striker before the start of the next season, with plenty of options on their bucket list which includes Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, and Benjamin Sesko.

However, as reported by David Ornstein, Ipswich striker Liam Delap has emerged as the top alternative for Matheus Cunha, in case the club fails to secure the Brazilian’s services.

To United’s delight, Ipswich’s relegation will result in a significant drop in Delap’s release clause, which is expected to be around just £30m-£40m.

However, the former Manchester City striker has demanded a massive wage increase if the club seeks his services next season. The 22-year-old who earns just £20,000 a week at Ipswich has reportedly demanded a staggering 500% increase in his wages, which amount to £120,000 to £150,000 per week.
