Croatia's star player Luka Modric is making the headlines as he has taken a major decision regarding his future in the game, which goes beyond Real Madrid.

As per reports from The Guardian, Modric has become a co-owner and investor in the Championship side, Swansea City, for an undisclosed amount.

The 39-year-old midfielder, who will potentially be playing his final season next season, has reportedly taken this major decision to continue his involvement in the game even beyond his playing days.

Modric is regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time for his contributions to Real Madrid and the Croatian national team, guiding them to many major milestones over the years.

Therefore, his decision to maintain his presence in the footballing world has surely delighted the fans all over the world.

The beginning of a new journey for Luka Modric

A joint statement from the Swansea City board revealed Luka Modric as a new owner of the club, which stated, "We are delighted that Luka has joined our ownership group. From our first discussions, it was clear that there was alignment on our visions and that Luka would be a real asset to our group.” (sic)

The Croatian midfielder also appeared enthusiastic and excited to begin his work with his newly acquired Welsh side.

Speaking about his latest venture to Sky Sports, Modric said, "This is an exciting opportunity. Swansea has a strong identity, an incredible fanbase and the ambition to compete at the highest level.” (sic)

Swansea City’s Chief Executive, Tom Gorringe, expressed his delight by stating, "I am excited that Luka has come on board as an investor and co-owner. There is no better role model in the game for our players, from the academy right through to the first team.” (sic)

He added further, "His endorsement of our ambition and willingness to support us on our journey will be instrumental as we aim to continue to improve our results on and off the pitch.
