FC Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal was released from the Spanish national team camp for their qualifiers against Georgia and Turkey. The 18-year-old had to go through a radio frequency operation as a treatment for his groin injury on Monday.

This left the Spanish boss Luis De la Fuente fuming as the treatment procedure was conducted without informing the RFEF, who only learnt about the details later in the night.

“This procedure was performed without prior notification to the national team’s medical staff, who only learnt of the details through a report received at 10:40 p.m. last night, which indicated a medical recommendation for rest for 7-10 days,” the Spanish football federation released a statement. De la Fuente admitted that he had never come across such a situation before, leaving him quite disappointed at Barcelona's handling of the situation regarding Yamal.

“The thing is, these things happen outside the federation, that’s how it is, that’s how it happens, you have to accept it.” the Spain coach said in an interview to Radio Nacional de Espana. (sic)

He further added, “Of course (surprised), like everyone else, you don’t know, you haven’t heard anything, you don’t know any details, and then they tell you, I insist, and on top of that, there’s the health issue, so you’re surprised.” (sic)

La Roja currently sit at the top of the qualifiers table with 12 points in 4 games, boasting 4 clean sheets so far while bagging 15 goals. They face Georgia on Saturday to move one step closer from booking their spot at next year's World Cup. Spain will mathematically qualify if they win their next game and Turkey fails to beat Bulgaria.
