The new season hasn't even begun, and Liverpool are already appearing to be the clear favourites to win and defend their league title next season. Not just the Premier League, but Arne Slot and co. are even appearing as the early favourites to win next season's Champions League, all because of their blockbuster summer so far already.
The PL champions are having a stunning transfer window, having already completed the signings of Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and Hugo Ekitike, and are closing in to sign Alexander Isak as well.
If things happen according to their plans, Liverpool might end up spending over £300 million this summer, making huge upgrades to their current squad. The Merseyside giants are now deeply covered in every department and position.
The addition of Florian Wirtz came as a huge bonus to the Liverpool attack, with the German possessing the stellar ability to position and lead attacks along with his tremendous creativity and eye for goal.
On top of that, Hugo Ekitike's signing from Frankfurt will also provide a significant boost to Arne Slot's attack in order to replace Darwin Nunez, who is tipped for a move away from Anfield this summer, and also fill in the void left by the tragic demise of Diogo Jota.
Along with all these signings, Isak's signing would be the perfect cherry on top of the cake for Liverpool, being one of the greatest strikers in the world at the moment.
Double striker formation?: How can Liverpool line up next season with Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak?
Liverpool will assemble a brute attacking force next season if they end up signing Alexander Isak, but the important question is: how will the Reds line up with two prolific strikers?
In the pre-season so far, Arne Slot has deployed his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, and if he chooses to go with the same spread out, we could witness Isak push up front as the no. 9, with Mo Salah on the right, and either Florian Wirtz or Dominik Szoboszlai operating in the dynamic no. 10 role.

New signing Hugo Ekitike is not a natural striker like Alexander Isak, as he likes to drop deep and cut inside, which could help him transition into Luis Diaz’s position eventually. He had previously recorded the fifth-highest number of attempted dribbles in the Bundesliga, which makes him lethal not only in front of goal but also in 1v1 situations.
As a result, Slot could have Ekitike and Cody Gakpo competing for the left-wing position, which can easily fill in the void left by Luis Diaz.
The two full-backs, likely new signings Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, on their respective flanks, are expected to play in Liverpool's typical advanced full-back roles, which adds more options on the wings while also providing ample support to Mac Allister and Gravenberch in the heart of the midfield.
Arne Slot could also be tempted to shuffle things around and try out a double striker formation, such as a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2 formation, with Isak and Ekitike as the two strikers upfront. However, these formations would leave them defensively too open and vulnerable on the counterattacks, considering their style of play.
Therefore, the Dutch manager is most likely going to use this dynamic 4-2-3-1 play style, as it's more suited to the Premier League, and is a tried and tested formation for him.
