Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that he will take a break after he leaves the club while also brushing off rumours of him taking a retirement from football.

Guardiola’s contract with City runs down till the summer of 2027, having signed a new deal last year which ensured his stay at the club for two more years.

While the legendary manager has not yet decided whether he will leave Man City after his contract expires, he did confirm his desire to take a break from the game in order to spend some time with his family.

Speaking to ESPN in an interview after the victory over Wolves yesterday, Pep Guardiola confirmed his future plans by saying, “After my contract with City, I'm going to stop. I'm sure.” (sic)

He further added, “I don't know if I'm going to retire, but I'm going to take a break.” (sic)

Pep has been the most successful manager in the Citizens’ history, leading them to six Premier League titles and the club's first Champions League title in 2023, when the club also clinched the historical treble, making them the first ever English club to achieve this feat.

Joan Laporta is keen on bringing Pep Guardiola back to Barcelona but not as a manager

Following Pep Guardiola's hint at leaving Manchester City soon and taking a break from managing, rumours have emerged regarding a potential return to his childhood club for the Spaniard.

FC Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, reportedly has an ‘ambitious plan’ to bring Guardiola back to the Blaugrana; however, not as a manager.

As per sources, Laporta is insistent on handing a strategic role at La Masia to Pep, which will focus on grooming young talents and enhancing their development to ensure a successful future for Barcelona.

Laporta has always been a fan of Guardiola's philosophy and principles regarding the game and therefore feels its importance to be implemented at the club’s grassroots levels in order to create many more superstars for the club in the coming future.
