Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes had to be subbed off at half-time against Aston Villa as he suffered an injury, which looked quite serious.
The Portuguese international was tackled by Villa midfielder Amadou Onana, which left him in serious pain clutching his right hamstring. Man Utd went on to lose the game 2-1, and losing their skipper to an injury ruined their last game before Christmas.
Fernandes’ injury will be a big blow to Ruben Amorim’s midfield, as Kobie Mainoo also suffered a knock in training on Saturday. The Red Devils will also miss the services of Bryan Mbuemo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui, who are representing their respective nations in the AFCON.
Bruno has been underrated for Ruben Amorim's team this season, as United have lost four games out of five in the Premier League where he didn't start. The Man Utd boss has no other option than to pair Casemiro with Manuel Ugarte, and Mason Mount could slot in to replace the skipper in an advancing midfielder role.
As per reports by the BBC, Bruno could be out of action for over a month and will clearly miss the Boxing Day clash against Newcastle United.
Jack Fletcher, son of Manchester United and Scotland legend Darren Fletcher, made his senior team debut against Aston Villa last game, and like his dad, he is also a midfielder.
The 19-year-old won't be given a high responsibility, but he could chip in from the bench and add depth to the team in their skipper's absence.
