West Ham United lost 2-1 at home against relegation rivals Nottingham Forest after conceding a late goal as they continue their unfortunate ten-game winless streak.

The Hammers let a crucial lead slip as Sean Dyche’s Nottingham snatched all three points at the London Stadium. This loss leaves Nuno Espirito Santo’s side seven points off safety, staring down relegation from the Premier League for the first time in fifteen years.

The home side were booed off at the end of the game, as the fans have grown quite frustrated at the club's performances even after so many successful years in the top flight. The club owners haven't done enough to build on the progress in recent years.

The Hammers had won the UEFA Conference League as recently as 2023, but instead of competing for the top six in the league, it has all gone downhill for the London club.

The club appointed Nuno Espirito Santo, who led Nottingham Forest to the Europa League qualification last season, to save their season after sacking Graham Potter. They were presented with favourable fixtures against Fulham, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and even Wolves to get to the safe zone.

However, Nuno’s side managed to bag just one point out of a possible twelve, which included the 3-0 loss against Wolves to give them their first league win of the season. The Hammers are now sitting 18th in the table and could drop further below, as Burnley are two points off them and could overtake them with a win against Manchester United.

Having won just three games in twenty-one games this season, it almost seems like an uphill task for West Ham to stay up this season. The London-based club face Tottenham next away and Sunderland at home, and all of their games from now on are “do or die”.

"We will look in the mirror and know the position we are in, and nobody from the squad wants to play in the second division next season," said West Ham’s senior player Tomas Soucek. (sic)

He further added, "We have to show honesty between each other. The truth of who cares and who does not.” (sic)

As per reports, the club is set to stick with Nuno for the remainder of the season, trusting that the Portuguese will be able to rescue them from this massive mess. Getting relegated from the Premier League would result in massive losses in revenue and even the loss of star players like Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville.
