Zinedine Zidane is finally set to make a comeback in coaching, as France is set to appoint the former Real Madrid boss as their next head coach, replacing Didier Deschamps, who's set to step down after the World Cup next year.

This brought a lot of excitement to the French fans, as Les Bleus had been criticised for playing conservative football, which might change under Zizou.

The Frenchman has been out of the sidelines since 2021 and has turned down multiple opportunities to return to the dugout. AS France reported that Zidane had been waiting for the right moment and will take the helm of Les Bleus upon the conclusion of the World Cup.

Deschamps' contract with France ends next year, as the World Cup-winning coach is set to explore more opportunities in coaching. Zidane is expected to bring a shift in France’s way of playing football, as Deschamps has been often criticised for not utilising the talent to its full extent.

France has produced results under Deschamps but has grown very predictable, and his tactics seem outdated in today's generation, where teams play fearless football.

Zidane’s profile suits the French, as he knows the talent pool better than anyone else; he has elite experience in club football, winning the three-peat in the Champions League with Real Madrid and also a La Liga title against the likes of FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
