Inter Miami striker Luis Suarez has been slapped with a six-game ban for his disgraceful spitting incident in the League's Cup Final against Seattle Sounders on 31st August. In a shocking incident, “El Pistolero” was captured spitting on the face of an opposition staff member to take out his frustration as Miami went on to lose the final by 3-0.
This incident took place after the final whistle as former Barcelona teammates Suarez and Sergio Busquets scuffled with the Seattle players. Along with Suarez, Miami midfielder Tomas Aviles also received a three-game suspension, while Busquets managed to escape with just a two-game suspension.
The Uruguayan international later apologised for his behaviour via a post on Instagram, stating, “It was a moment of great tension and frustration, where right after the match things happened that shouldn't have happened, but that doesn't justify the reaction I had.” (sic)
The 38-year-old further added, "I was wrong, and I sincerely regret it…I feel bad about what happened, and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to acknowledge it and apologise to everyone who felt hurt by what I did." (sic)
However, this is definitely not the first time that the legendary striker has been involved in such an incident, which led to him facing a lengthy ban due to his strange and disgraceful act, as Suarez has had a long history with controversies during his nearly 20-year-long career.
