Mohamed Salah slammed a fan account on X following a controversial post, which appeared to take a dig at former Liverpool players Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

The Liverpool fan page – @AnfieldEdition, which boasts over 500,000 followers on X, posted a picture of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz along with photos of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez with the caption stating “best upgrade in football history”, which was seen as a dig at the recently departed Premier League champions.

This post had very understandably upset Liverpool's star forward Mohamed Salah, who hit back at the post with a fiery response while defending his friends and former teammates. The Egyptian international posted a reply, which stated, “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?” (sic)

It wasn't the first time that Salah defended his former teammates, as during the PFA Awards ceremony last month, when asked about the new Liverpool squad, the 33-year-old had admitted that he doesn't believe that the new squad is surely better than last season's Premier League-winning team.

Similarly, in a recent interview, Salah also spoke about how it will take him some time to build that level of chemistry with his new attacking partners like he did with Diaz and Nunez, stating, “So far I haven't figured the connections out yet. Like with Darwin or Lucho or the guys they used to play in front, or Diogo.” (sic)

He further added that, “I knew where to start with Diogo or Darwin. I know where to find them. I knew their game very well, but with Hugo, he's still new.” (sic)

The “Egyptian King”, as they call him, lived up to the name he has been given by his fans as he stood up to defend his former teammates like a true leader and also set an example for the Liverpool fans to show respect to the ones who helped the club achieve glory in the past.

Football pundit and former Reds' defender Jamie Carragher also showed support to Salah as he also stepped up to defend the South American duo, who left Liverpool this summer after winning them the Premier League trophy last season.
