New season, same old Arsenal: The Gunners' drop two massive points in a stalemate against Wolves to further intensify the title race

Arsenal dropped two points yet again as they were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw at relegation-confirmed Wolves. Mikel Arteta's side failed to grab a seven-point cushion at the top, and now Manchester City can cut the gap to just two points if they win their next game.
It is fair to say that the Gunners haven't learned anything at all from their previous two seasons, and it's starting to feel like it's all happening again. Man City would feel pretty confident now about replacing Arsenal at the top soon.
The Gunners took the lead at the Molineux within the first five minutes after Bukayo Saka thumped in a header. It felt Arteta's men had sealed the deal when Piero Hincapie bagged a goal in the 60th minute.
However, things started to become catastrophic for the league leaders after Hugo Bueno curled in a brilliant strike, giving David Raya absolutely no chance in goal. Wolves rallied behind this goal, and the huge crowd support began to gather momentum.
Arsenal were boring and looked lethargic in possession at times and were pretty content with a one-goal lead. This proved to be very costly, as deep in injury time, 19-year-old Tom Edozie bagged a brilliant goal past Raya between the sticks, levelling the score.
Arteta's side had attempted just 10 shots on goal with an xG of 1.60, while Wolves managed just 5 shots on goal with an xG of 0.29. Although Arsenal had better xG, they possessed very little threat and were too complacent at the back.
“Arsenal are choking again!": Is Mikel Arteta the one to be blamed?
An interesting fact has come up: only Crystal Palace and West Ham have lost more points from winning positions than Arsenal. The Gunners could see their five-point lead at the top slip to just two points if Manchester City wins their next game against Newcastle United.
As per Opta, Arteta's side are still favourites to lift the Premier League title with 79.7% odds. However, they are yet to face Manchester City at the Etihad and still have eleven games left this season.
Mikel Arteta has often been criticised for the brand of football he has deployed at the Emirates. His team let themselves down against Wolves and were content with a one-goal lead, which eventually cost them.
Arsenal easily have one of the strongest teams in the Premier League, along with stacked defence and attack. This is the most important time of the league where it's decided which team will lift the Premier League. Man City went the whole two months unbeaten during this time period when they had won the league, and so did Liverpool.
Arsenal's staggering draw against the worst side in the Premier League right now does not look good for the team and their confidence. It has also handed fresh belief to Pep Guardiola's Man City, who will now aim to lock in and leapfrog Arsenal.
This season is “make it or break it” for Mikel Arteta's side; if they fail to win the league with all the ammunition they have assembled, there is definitely something wrong with the process.
