Manchester United are now open to permanently parting ways with one of their most prominent stars, Marcus Rashford, as Ruben Amorim has decided to not include him in his project moving forward from next season onwards.
The Red Devils, who had offloaded Rashford on loan to Aston Villa in January, want a permanent sale of the 27-year-old this summer in order to free up his massive wages. The INEOS-led management has reportedly put a price tag of £40 million on the English forward.
As per reports from Barca Blaugranes, Barcelona sporting director Deco has publicly expressed his liking of Marcus Rashford’s profile and believes they could bring the best out of the out-of-form star.
According to Diario Sport, Deco met with Rashford's agent to discuss the player's possible move to Catalonia; however, it will likely be a loan deal with an option to buy, which is not exactly what Manchester United are aiming for.
The Spanish champions are said to believe that Rashford's versatility could add the much-needed depth to their squad and add more spark to their already ‘red hot’ frontline.
Could Marcus Rashford break the “Manchester United curse” at FC Barcelona?
It has become a common occurrence to see former Manchester United players excelling after moving to other destinations in their respective careers.
One of the prime examples of this is Scott McTominay, who was forced out of the club; he on to become a Serie A champion with Napoli while also winning the Serie A Player of the Season, bagging 12 goals and 4 assists.
Along with McTominay, Antony, who became the centre of criticism while being at Manchester United, turned his career around after joining Real Betis on a short-term loan in January.
The same could happen with Rashford as well, who had a decent loan stint at Aston Villa but was not good enough to convince the club to secure his services permanently.
The 27-year-old is a top-quality forward with the ability to find space behind defences quickly, along with the versatility to play on both wings.
It appears like Rashford could really benefit from Hansi Flick's quick counter-pressing and attacking style of football. The German boss is exceptional when it comes to player profiling, having already helped Raphinha recover and redeem himself after his topsy-turvy performance in the previous season.
If this move happens, it could be a massive stepping stone in Rashford’s career which could provide the perfect platform to not only revive his former flair but also help him get back in the England national team squad before next year's FIFA World Cup.
