Kai Havertz has been ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a major injury to his hamstring during Arsenal's training trip to Dubai ahead of their Premier League clash against Leicester City. It still remains a doubt whether Havertz would have to undergo surgery or not.
According to The Athletic UK, the 25-year-old forward is now expected to return to action for the 2025-26 season.
Despite being criticized for his wastefulness in front of goal, Havertz is a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s system, while also being the Gunners' top scorer this season.
The German forward has netted 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 34 matches across all competitions, making his injury a huge blow to Arsenal, considering their title aspirations and their striker problems.
Losing their top, and the only available striker at the moment, for the remainder of the season will pose a massive challenge for Mikel Arteta and his team for the season ahead.
Havertz’s injury adds salt to Arsenal’s attacking woes this season
Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have been riddled with injuries in their attack, with Kai Havertz's latest blow worsening the situation to an even greater extent.
With star attackers, namely Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli, sidelined due to injuries, along with Kai Havertz now, Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri, and Raheem Sterling are the only fit players that are available for selection.
The Gunners tried to sign attacking reinforcements in the winter transfer window but saw all their attempts being unsuccessful. As a result, Mikel Arteta might be forced to go for the club's academy players in order to have enough options up front for now.
The need for an attacking signing seems imminent and a must for the Gunners, with Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and Newcastle United's Alexander Isak still remaining their top transfer targets, with the club aiming to sign either one of the star strikers in the upcoming summer transfer window.
