Tottenham Hotspur are finally turning things around under Roberto De Zerbi.

The Lilywhites clinched a commanding 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, giving back-to-back wins, ending a miserable run at one of their most difficult away grounds and sparking a fresh belief that their season can still be rescued.

The result was significant not just because it came in a London derby against their arch rivals, but because of how Tottenham approached the game and completely dominated Xabi Alonso's side at their own den.

Tottenham dominated large spells of the game, enjoying 67% possession and finishing with 15 shots to Chelsea’s 7.

Their midfield, with Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and James Maddison, was influential before the latter’s injury forced a substitution.

De Zerbi’s side dictated the tempo and pushed Chelsea onto the back foot from the first half itself, and it was a very positive performance from a team that had been struggling for consistency and confidence.

The breakthrough arrived in the 77th minute, after Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders misjudged his attempt to punch away a corner from Matheus Fernandes and sent the ball into his own net, conceding an unfortunate goal.

Tottenham became more confident after the goal and added their second when Mathys Tel produced a brilliant individual finish in the 87th minute, driving forward before firing into the bottom corner.

Chelsea's hope for a comeback completely ended after Cole Palmer was sent off after receiving his second yellow in the game.

However, Tottenham must not get carried away too much after this win, as Chelsea were way below their best without Joao Pedro and had Penders’ mistake give Spurs the lead.

The game had been balanced, and no sides created enough chances to trouble each other.

This win does not erase their problems immediately, and De Zerbi's side have to maintain the same intensity in the upcoming games as well with consistency.

However, the signs are definitely encouraging for the North London giants.

Spurs had defeated Coventry City 3-1 last week, securing their first league win of the season, and the derby victory at Stamford Bridge has lifted them from the bottom of the Premier League to the 12th spot.

This team is slowly building its rhythm and finding an identity, and if they can keep up this momentum, this derby victory will be remembered as their day of revival.
