Konrad Laimer has become one of the main starters at Bayern Munich recently mainly because of his versatility. The Austrian international is known to play in midfield, but he has impressed fans by adapting to the right-back role in a short time.
The 28-year-old has been crucial for Bayern boss Vincent Kompany this year, and his consistent performances prompted the club to raise contract renewal talks as his current deal is set to expire in 2027.
Bild reports that Bayern are not sure he deserves the size of the raise he is looking for. The club had agreed to the contract demands put forward by Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Dayot Upamecano during their negotiations. However, the club does not want to remain at the back end of the negotiations again while dealing with Laimer as well.
The Bavarian giants reportedly want to set an example with Laimer and have refused to meet the player's wage demands around €12-15 million. If the player doesn't accept a salary as proposed by the club, they will let him leave this summer or even let him run down his contract next summer when his current deal expires and leave the club on a free transfer. It wouldn't be a loss for the club on the financial books because the Austrian joined on a free transfer too.
Negotiations are currently on hold between the club and the player's party, and there are no signs of improvement yet. Bayern understand that the player is of utmost importance to Vincent Kompany, and they'll need to find a potential replacement for him if they continue to be adamant regarding this deal.
On the other hand, Laimer knows that he deserves the package of salary the other players are getting, as he's equally important to the team. Ideally it would be beneficial for both parties if they could find a middle ground and agree on a deal to renew the contract.
Bayern Munich aim to pitch a swap deal to Hertha Berlin for German wonderkid Kennet Eichhorn
As per a report from Berliner Kurier journalist Wolfgang Heise, Bayern Munich are exploring options to make a swap deal in order to make a proposal for Hertha Berlin wonderkid Kennet Eichhorn. Bayern are ready to offer Maurice Krattenmacher, who is currently on loan at Hertha Berlin from Bayern and has bagged 3 G/A in 21 games across all competitions this season.
Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing Eichhorn, who is being hailed as one of the best young talents in Germany right now. Dortmund are offering more money than Bayern to Hertha and the player to lure the wonderkid to Signal Iduna Park. As per our sources, Dortmund are leading the race currently.
However, Bayern won't let them run away with this deal so easily. The Bundesliga champions are also in a deal with Hertha, who are keen on signing 20-year-old winger Maurice Krattenmacher after his one-year loan spell ends this summer.
“We are in talks with Bayern about Kratti; perhaps something will come of it,” confirmed Hertha’s managing director, Dr Peter Gorlich. (sic)
Bayern are planning to offer a swap deal on their table in which they'll seek Eichhorn in exchange for a certain amount of fees along with Krattenmacher. This deal could benefit Hertha by getting a hefty transfer amount for the wonderkid while also signing Krattenmacher, who has been brilliant for them this season.
Gorlich added, “Krattenmacher is an interesting young player that many clubs want. Perhaps we have a chance to keep him.” (sic)
The 20-year-old winger's contract will end next summer, and Bayern has to sell him immediately, as his market value currently is around €3.5 million. Hertha boss Stefan Leitl is impressed with the lad and wants him permanently next season.
On the other hand, Eichhorn is also receiving offers from other Bundesliga clubs and European giants, FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid.
