Bayern Munich are searching the market once again after missing out on Florian Wirtz, who is set to join Liverpool in the coming days. However, as per reports, the Bavarian giants are planning on inflicting a ‘reverse blow' at the Premier League champions by plotting a move for their star forward, Cody Gakpo.
The Dutch winger has now emerged on Bayern’s target list for the summer, as he is deemed suitable to fit into Vincent Kompany’s playing style. Along with that, the 26-year-old had a stellar season for Liverpool, bagging 25 goal contributions in just 49 appearances.
With the Reds reported to have plans of letting some players go in the ongoing summer transfer window to fit in their new signings and maintain financial profitability, a move for Gakpo surely seems plausible for Bayern Munich.
However, the Bundesliga winners must be prepared to open up their wallets to secure this move, as Liverpool have reportedly set a price tag of a whopping £75 million on Gakpo.
Spain’s Euro 2024 champion also appears to be Bayern's radar
As per reports from Sport Bild, Bayern Munich are also exploring the possibility of signing the “Spanish Starboy” Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. Being unable to sign Wirtz, the German giants would be capable of making a big offer for the Spaniard.
However, they are not alone in the pursuit for the Basque winger, as Real Madrid and Arsenal are also monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation, which can complicate Bayern’s pursuit of him.
Nico has a release clause worth €60 million, which won't cause difficulties for the Bavarians; however, Athletic Bilbao are reported to believe that their star winger will continue to stay with them at least until his current contract runs down.
