Arsenal's search for a reliable goal scorer still continues despite their desperate need for a striker since the beginning of last season.
A draw in the crucial clash against Aston Villa on Saturday has now allowed Liverpool to go 6 points at the top of the points table, while having a game in hand. The draw has resulted in a big waste of a wonderful opportunity for Arsenal to close down the gap between them and Arne Slot's men.
The urgent need for a reliable no. 9 now seems even more imminent for Mikel Arteta due to his team’s recent performances. Standing 6 points behind Liverpool in the league, 2-0 down in the EFL Cup, and getting knocked out in the FA Cup, it's been a tough start to the second half of the season for Arsenal.
Since Bukayo Saka’s injury in December, the Gunners have struggled to find efficiency in front of the goal. Having scored just 10 goals in their last 7 games, the absence of a reliable no. 9 has been accentuated due to the absence of their star boy.
While Arteta still possesses the services of Gabriel Jesus and an out-of-position Kai Havertz, it clearly doesn't seem fulfilling as Arsenal are on track to lose out to a 3rd consecutive Premier League title.
Havertz’s turbulent form and Jesus’ injury crisis highlight how crucial it is for the Gunners to sign a striker this January itself, in order to continue their pursuit of possibly winning a title this season.
Arsenal strongly linked to RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško
As per Mirror UK, Arsenal are chasing RB Leipzig's star striker, Benjamin Šeško, who is regarded as one of the best talents in the world right now.
The Gunners have reportedly offered an amount of £60m to Leipzig for their star forward, to which the German club is expected to agree. Šeško has also reportedly agreed to the offer, as he shows his desire to play for Arsenal and in the Premier League.
Being a brutal force upfront, Šeško has grown to become a complete striker, possessing abilities that one would find only in world-class strikers.
His numbers also do justice to his strong abilities, with Slovenian having already scored 18 goals in all competitions for club and country this season. Šeško has already almost equaled his last season’s goal tally, highlighting that the 21-year-old is only getting better with every passing season.
