Inter Milan clinched the Serie A title after a commanding 2-0 victory over Parma at the San Siro. Cristian Chivu’s side needed only a point to secure the title, and his side made no mistake on Sunday in front of their home crowd.
The Nerazzurri clinched their 21st Scudetto with three games to spare as nearest title challengers Napoli drew against Como in a must-win game for them. Goals from Marcus Thuram and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the game sealed the Serie A title in favour of the Milan giants.
Inter started the game in strong fashion and could've taken the lead in the first ten minutes when Denzel Dumfries went close with his header effort. Nicolo Barella also hit the woodwork in the 25th minute. However, late in the first half Piotr Zielinski found Thuram, who slotted it past the Parma goalkeeper.
Dumfries squandered another opportunity late in the second half, but Mkhitaryan’s goal sealed all three points for the hosts and finished all hopes for Napoli. Skipper Lautaro Martinez came off the bench and supplied the assist for Mkhitaryan, who finished it with stellar accuracy.
Inter has shown complete dominance in Serie A this season and fully deserved the title in every aspect. The club's 21st Scudetto is also their sixth in which they have won with three or more games to spare. Christian Chivu's side has built a fortress at San Siro, where they've lost just two games out of their last 29 games at the iconic stadium.
Their last defeat here was against their arch-nemesis AC Milan in the Milan derby. With this victory, French forward Marcus Thuram also became the fifth player in Europe’s top five leagues to score above 13 goals with the same club in the last three seasons alongside Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, Ante Budimir, and Harry Kane.
Inter Milan prepares transfer budget for the summer window amid rumours linking star defender with FC Barcelona

Inter Milan clinched their 21st Scudetto and have already begun their preparations for the transfer window this summer, where massive changes can take place. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter owners have already made €40-50m available for the summer transfer window, but the budget would increase with the sale of star defender Alessandro Bastoni, who's linked with FC Barcelona, who aim to strengthen their defence.
Christian Chivu aims to strengthen his side for the 2026-27 season to be able to compete in the Serie A and the Champions League simultaneously. The Nerazzurri reached the UCL finals last year but were humiliated 5-0 in the final by Paris Saint-Germain.
The club owners, Oaktree, have reportedly allocated their transfer budget for the summer, which will be between €40m and €50m. Apart from Bastoni, other significant changes are set to be Yann Sommer, Matteo Darmian, Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij leaving at the end of their contracts in June.
The Nerazzurri plan on freeing up the wage bill and have been linked with Liverpool defender Giovanni Leoni, who has already played under Christian Chivu at Parma last season before joining the Reds this season.
As per reports, a lot will depend on whether Bastoni stays or not, as the club will prepare a transfer strategy to strengthen the defence accordingly. Club president Beppe Marotta has confirmed Barcelona’s interest in the Italian centre-back, but the Nerazzurri haven't got any official proposal from the Catalan giants yet.
Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemovic has already reached an agreement with the club on a transfer, but the clubs are yet to contact each other over a potential deal. On the other hand, Sunday's goalscorer Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also expected to leave at the end of his contract in June.
To replace the midfielder, Inter Milan have identified Liverpool's Curtis Jones as a potential replacement. Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario has become the priority to replace Yann Sommer, and it could be easier if Spurs get relegated from the Premier League this season.
As per multiple sources, Chivu is looking to make certain changes in the team and change his tactical setup next season into a four-at-the-back formation. Therefore, Atalanta’s Marco Palestra is also identified by the club's scouts, as the youngster can play both as a winger and as a full-back.
Inter also hopes to sign Nico Paz from Real Madrid next season, as the Argentine is set to return to Madrid following this season. The youngster has impressed many clubs this season.
