Tensions between Manchester United's star winger, Marcus Rashford, and the new head coach, Ruben Amorim, continue to escalate as the two are reported to be "no longer on speaking terms," according to The Guardian.
Amorim is said to now only address Rashford when speaking to the entire squad in the dressing room.
Former Premier League winner Chris Sutton believes that Rashford can easily resolve his issues with Amorim by simply putting in more effort, according to The Mirror UK.
Amorim has been very vocal about his expectations for the Englishman, stating that the player "has to change" to be part of his plans.
The breakdown in communication has led to Rashford's prolonged absence from the team, with the forward last featuring in a match on December 12 against Viktoria Plzen.
Even before Amorim's arrival, Rashford’s performance over the years was inconsistent for Manchester United, scoring 30 goals in 121 appearances under various managers, which included Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag as well.
His performances were often criticized, with some questioning his dedication and work ethic. Despite this, Rashford remained a key player for the Red Devils, earning a significant wage of £325,000 a week.
What next for Marcus Rashford?
There seem to be slim chances of Rashford and Amorim solving their issues, and Manchester United will have to look for a possible future without their long-time star, who has been through so much during his time with United.
Amorim has to focus on developing other young talents, such as Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri.
Additionally, the Red Devils may also explore alternative striking options in the transfer market, considering players like Jonathan David or Victor Osimhen.
Rashford's representatives are now reported to be engaging in talks with several European clubs, including FC Barcelona, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund.
However, a loan deal has yet to materialize due to the player's substantial wages. Rashford has been known to personally vouch for a Barca move and is willing to reduce his salary for playing with the Blaugranas.
With the winter transfer window set to close on February 3, Rashford's future at Manchester United hangs precariously in the balance.
