Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to win the transfer battle against Arsenal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ star striker, Matheus Cunha.
Cunha’s performances have been brilliant this season despite a devastating campaign for Wolves so far. While Wolves have struggled hard this season, particularly with their attack with just 32 goals in 22 matches, Cunha has still managed to register impressive numbers, scoring 10 goals and 4 assists in just 19 starts in the Premier League.
As a result, the Brazilian striker has been tipped for a move this January itself, with Arsenal appearing in the lead in the race to sign him. However, the shocking move from Forest has now come as a big blow for the Gunners.
Nottingham Forest ready to break the bank for Cunha
Arsenal had been the frontrunners to sign Cunha since the beginning of the January transfer window as they aim to bolster their attack with a new no. 9 signing as soon as possible.
It was even reported by Sky Sports that the Gunners had agreed to all the personal terms with Cunha as well, which indicated that a move to the Emirates for the 25-year-old striker is set and could happen in the upcoming days itself.
However, in a massive turn of events, Nottingham Forest have seemed to appear out of nowhere to overtake Arsenal in the race to sign Cunha. As per multiple reports, Forest are ready to break their bank in order to sign the Brazilian before the January transfer window ends.
According to Yahoo Sports, Nottingham Forest are ready to offer a staggering £60 million for Cunha, which will be a record-breaking bid for Forest. If the deal does go through, this will surpass their current highest successful bid record of £40 million, making Cunha’s move a historic one.
