Mohamed Salah blasted the club management following the Leeds United game, which ended in a 3-3 stalemate. In the tunnel, the Egyptian gave an interview to a Norwegian journalist, and it sent shockwaves across the dressing room.
“I feel like I’ve been thrown under the bus.” (sic)
For a club that chants, “You'll never walk alone,” and has Liverpool's greatest goalscorer openly coming out and ranting about being thrown under the bus just shows how toxic the situation has become inside the dressing room.
The 32-year-old has also revealed that his relationship with the boss, Arne Slot, has “broken down” and the game against Brighton could be his final game at Anfield.
Salah will leave for the Africa Cup of Nations on 15th December, and now his future upon returning from the competition is unsure despite signing a two-year contract in the summer.
The Egyptian international was the league’s top scorer last season and led the Reds to their historic 20th league title. However, this season he has failed to get those numbers.
Salah was left on the bench against Leeds United for the third time in a row, which did not sit well with the forward.
"I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. "I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don't have any relationship.” (sic)
"I don't know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn't want me in the club." (sic)
He further added that, "It [the situation] is not acceptable to me, to be fair. I don't get it. It's like I'm being thrown more under the bus. I don't think I'm the problem. I have done so much for this club.” (sic)
Has Mohamed Salah played his last game for Liverpool?
Mohamed Salah’s interview following the draw at Elland Road has ignited fresh chaos inside the club and has hinted that he could leave Liverpool in the winter transfer window.
Salah's interview rant was quite similar to that of Cristiano Ronaldo when he came out and said that he “felt betrayed” by the club and forced an exit to the Saudi Pro League.
The difference is that Slot has always admired and backed the Egyptian as a “top professional”, giving him the time to work on fitness and regain his form. However, following that interview, he might get completely ousted from the first team if the club decides to back Slot.
The Egyptian has achieved legendary status at Anfield, but his performances have been poor this season, especially after the new signings of Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. The departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold has affected his performance heavily as well.
As per reports, Al Hilal are closely monitoring this situation and are eyeing a monstrous £100m move for the forward in January.
If Salah starts the Reds' next Premier League game against Brighton, it would definitely be a sign of hope, but otherwise it would lead to a bitter ending to a beautiful journey with the club.
