Nottingham Forest have sacked Sean Dyche after just four months in charge of the club, and it's the third time they've done it this season. Forest was held to a stalemate against Wolves, leaving them stranded in 17th position with just three points above safety.

Dyche had replaced Ange Postecoglou back in October on a contract until 2027. The Australian survived just 39 days after he was appointed to replace Nuno Espirito Santo.

Dyche’s side won four league games and avoided the relegation zone by quite a margin, but it followed a poor run of form. They lost four in a row but managed to pull off a stalemate against Arsenal.

Nottingham also managed to qualify for the playoffs round of the Europa League after finishing 13th in the league stage. They will face Turkish giants Fenerbahçe to qualify for the Round of Sixteen.

Forest have been poor in the domestic competitions this season as well, as they crashed out from both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup against non-Premier League sides. Postecoglou’s Forest lost 3-2 to Swansea in the FA Cup, while Dyche’s men lost against newly promoted Wrexham in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

"Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach," the club statement said. (sic)

It further said, "We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club, and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”  (sic)

Dyche was appointed at a critical time for the club, and he did fairly well with the limited resources he received from the club. Following the goalless draw against Wolves, owner Marinakis looked pretty frustrated with the performance.

Post-match, Dyche dropped a hint about his potential sack, as the owner has a habit of throwing managers under the bus when the things start getting a bit difficult instead of backing them.

"The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt. If anyone chooses to change in football now, that's their decision. We've all seen it. People can demand change, and then it's always whether they change or not,” said Dyche. (sic)
