Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract extension with Al-Nassr, putting an end to all the doubts surrounding his future. Al-Nassr are expected to offer the exact same wages as Cristiano’s current contract, worth a whopping €200 million + €60 million in image rights, as per Yahoo.com. The deal will extend until June 2026.
Ronaldo’s extension with Al-Nassr puts an end to a potential transfer back to Europe. As reported earlier, the Portuguese captain was rumored to have several options for a possible return to Europe. It was even reported that CR7’s agent and friend, Ricky Regufe, had offered the player to ‘multiple’ clubs, including the star’s boyhood club, Sporting Lisbon. Despite the rumors, Ronaldo had already hinted at an extension by expressing his happiness and desire to play in the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking in a recent interview, the superstar said, “I’m happy in Saudi, and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. He further added,” Work hard, respect the club, respect your contract, and believe that things will change—for Al Nassr to try to win more titles.” (sic).
Cristiano Ronaldo is Working Hard to Achieve One Last Shot at Winning the World Cup
Cristiano Ronaldo's extension up until the summer of 2026 seems like a clear indication about the icon’s plans. CR7, who has won almost every major trophy in his illustrious career, has his eyes set on the one that he desires the most, the World Cup. While Ronaldo will be 41 by the time the 2026 FIFA World Cup takes place, it looks like he might be able to achieve his dream.
Ronaldo’s numbers have still been world-class despite the star nearing his 40s. The Portuguese captain recorded a G/A of 50 in 51 appearances in all competitions for club and country in 2024, proving his incredible longevity. While CR7’s numbers are still incredible, many fans have started to question his role with the national team following a disappointing campaign in the UEFA Euro 2024.
Even though Ronaldo did recover from the setback by scoring 5 goals in 6 games for Portugal post the Euros, Ronaldo’s role with the Portuguese national team still remains a big topic of discussion. While many think Ronaldo’s importance to the team is still very crucial, the others believe that it might be time for the next generation to take over.
