Manchester United continued their winning streak as they beat Brighton 4-2 despite a courageous effort from the visitors late on at Old Trafford. Bryan Mbeumo bagged a stunning brace to hand Ruben Amorim three consecutive wins in the league for the first time in his tenure.

Popular British YouTuber and Manchester United fan, United Strand, who had jokingly taken a vow of not cutting his hair until Manchester United won 5 games in a row, might finally get to cut his hair, as this is the closest they've come to achieving the feat lately.

Matheus Cunha also scored his first goal at the Theatre of Dreams, bending it past Van Hecke before Casemiro added one through a giant deflection off Yasin Ayari. Ruben Amorim's men were cruising to a comfortable win when Mbeumo put the hosts 3-0 up, but Danny Welbeck pulled one back with a stunning free-kick over the defensive wall.

18-year-old Charalampos Kostoulas thumped in a header from a corner in stoppage time, which gave Brighton a ray of hope. However, Mbeumo bagged his second late in stoppage time and put the final nail in Brighton’s coffin. Despite 6 goals being scored on the night, both the teams didn't accumulate as many expected goals (xG), with Man Utd finishing with 1.13 from 13 shots to Brighton's 1.07 from 17 shots.

The Red Devils face Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest next week on Saturday as they aim to win four games in a row for the first time since February last year.

Bryan Mbeumo promises fans that Manchester United will fight for the top

Bryan Mbeumo bagged a stunning brace yesterday, and his efforts saw Manchester United rise to fourth in the Premier League table, two places above defending champions Liverpool, who fell to their fourth loss in a row against Brentford.

The Cameroon international says that the team “want to fight for the best places" after extending their winning streak against Brighton on Saturday.

Despite a late scare from Brighton, the Red Devils held on to win three games in a row for the first time since February last year. Having moved up to fourth in the table after nine games, Mbeumo is confident that the team can compete for the top despite a poor start to the season.

"I think we played a great game; we are a bit disappointed to concede two goals, but the most important thing is the win, and in the end, we did it.” Mbeumo told Sky Sports post-match. (sic)

He further added that, "I enjoy it a lot here. It wasn't easy at the start. It's a new environment, a new expectation, but I think with the automation, with the link-up with the team, I think everything is going the right way.” (sic)

“The work we put in, the effort, and the togetherness we give on the pitch are key, and after that, we try to stick to the plan, and we try to play as best as possible. I like the challenges. I came here to a big club, and we want to fight for the best places.” (sic)
