Liverpool FC's manager, Arne Slot, was shown a red card against Everton in a chaotic Merseyside derby that ended in a draw with a scoreline of 2-2 on Thursday.
The 46-year-old had a verbal spat with referee Michael Oliver after the full-time whistle, letting his emotions take control of him, as a result of which, he was shown a red card.
Along with Arne Slot, Abdoulaye Doucouré and Curtis Jones were also sent off by the referee at the end of the game, following a brawl with each other after Doucouré aimed a taunting gesture towards the Liverpool fans in the away end.
Slot admitted to his wrongdoings and accepted that he should've been more composed.
Speaking to the media following the incident, Slot said, “Emotions got the better of me. If I could do that differently, if I look back, I would love to do that differently, and I hope to do that differently next time.”
As per BBC, Arne Slot's punishment has been treated as a "non-standard" charge, which means that the Dutchman will continue to be on the touchline for Liverpool's upcoming clashes until the FA concludes its hearing on the incident.
Arne Slot and Liverpool will look for revenge at Anfield
Liverpool were left flabbergasted as Tarkowski’s late winner was allowed to stand by the VAR, with Slot and his players looking adamant that Ibrahima Konate was fouled in the buildup, which should have led to the goal being disallowed.
To add salt to their wounds, Abdoulaye Doucouré squared up to the away fans as the full-time whistle went off at Goodison Park, while the Toffees’ fans invaded the pitch to celebrate the result.
Reacting to the entire full-time incident, Liverpool's captain, Virgil van Dijk, took a dig at Everton, saying that "a draw against us is a trophy for them.".
Arne Slot, being sent off in his first-ever Merseyside derby, which ended with chaos and his side dropping crucial points in the title race, will aim for revenge next time out. as the two rivals go head-to-head once again on 3rd April, 2025 at Anfield.
