Tottenham Hotspur had made an offer to sign Chelsea's star defender, Axel Disasi. The deal offered was for a short-term loan move, without a buy clause.
As reported by Sky Sports, Chelsea had agreed to Tottenham's proposal, giving the green light for Disasi to leave, as they have been exploring the options to offload the French defender since the summer.
However, Disasi has declined to join his London rivals by rejecting the personal terms offered by them. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman has rejected Tottenham's offer as he has already agreed to personal terms with Aston Villa, and is keen on joining them.
However, Chelsea do not want their defender to join Unai Emery's side as they fear that it will benefit their rivals, who are currently challenging them for a top 4 spot in the Premier League points table this season.
Crystal Palace also rejected Spurs’ massive offer for their star defender
According to Goal, Crystal Palace had rejected Tottenham's massive bid of £70m for their star centre-back, Marc Guehi, a few days ago. The Englishman has only 18 months left on his contract, which has attracted a lot of interest from many big clubs across Europe.
The Eagles are currently two spots above Spurs in the Premier League table. They do not want their “mid-table” rival to benefit from this transfer, as they aim for a top-half finish this season.
Tottenham won't increase their bid for Guehi as per reports. They will instead look for other options available in the market, as a defensive signing seems imminent for them, with a tough season ahead.
Tottenham are keen on making new signings to survive the remainder of the season
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have faced a tough run of results in January. Sitting in 14th place in the points table currently, things are looking very bleak for the North London giants.
They desperately need to sign a defender as they've suffered multiple injuries in the current campaign. The Coys felt that Disasi would have been a perfect solution for their short-term needs.

The club has already signed Kevin Danso on a loan deal to replace the injured Dragusin, along with Antonin Kinsky and Yang Min-Hyeok. However, another defensive signing looks necessary for them, with Axel Disasi being on their radar.
Apart from Diasai, the former Blues and AC Milan centre-back, Fikayo Tomori, has also been linked to Tottenham this transfer window, as he is reportedly eyeing a move away from San Siro.
