The Fantasy Premier League has entered into its gameweek 23, with only 15 gameweeks left in the 2024/25 season.

The GW 23 was a low-scoring one, recording an average of just 46 points. All 3 of the top captaincy picks, Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Cole Palmer, recorded a rare blank, causing the significant drop in the average points in comparison to GW 22, which had an average of 55 points.

Therefore, the FPL managers will be hoping for a high-scoring gameweek, with multiple exciting fixtures that possess the opportunity of popular picks to score big hauls.

Here is our best XI for gameweek 23 of FPL:

Martin Dubravka - £4.3m - GK - Newcastle United - vs Southampton (A)

Newcastle United’s visit to St. Mary’s offers a great opportunity for them to keep a clean sheet as they take on the worst scoring team in the league this season. Priced at just £4.3m, Dubravka has been a great asset in the game this season, averaging 5.6 points per match, while maintaining 5 clean sheets in just 7 starts.

Antonee Robinson - £5.1m - DEF - Fulham - vs Manchester United (H)

Being the highest-scoring defender in the game this season, Robinson has registered 9 assists and 4 clean sheets, while currently averaging 4.2 points per game in his last 5 appearances. Fulham’s impressive home record, matched up with United’s vulnerable performances, offers a brilliant opportunity for the English full-back to provide returns at both ends of the pitch.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - £7.2m - DEF - Liverpool - vs Ipswich Town (H)

Alexander-Arnold seems to be finding his form back after providing an assist and scoring a goal in his last 3 games across all competitions. The star right-back provided an assist to record an 11-point haul in his previous game against Brentford, which was his 3rd double-digit haul of the season.

Lewis Hall - £5.1m - DEF - Newcastle United - vs Southampton (A)

Lewis Hall still remains one of the most in-form players in the game, averaging 6 points a game in his last 5 appearances. Despite Newcastle’s 4-1 bashing against Bournemouth on Saturday, Hall still scored 4 points, providing his 5th assist of the season. Going up against a struggling Southampton team, Hall possesses the ability to produce a big haul, with potential returns at both ends of the pitch.

Phil Foden - £9.3m - MID - Manchester City - vs Chelsea (H)

The PFA Player Of The Season for the 2023/24 season has finally begun to find his footing again, recording big hauls in the last 2 gameweeks. Foden has scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in his last 3 games, making him the most in-form player in the game right now, averaging 10 points per game in his last 5 appearances.

Mohamed Salah (C) - £13.7m - MID - Liverpool - vs Ipswich Town (H)

Salah is back with the captaincy armband for us as he takes on a relegation-battling Ipswich Town. After failing to score in his last 3 games, Liverpool’s Egyptian king came back on the goal-scoring charts by scoring his 50th Champions League goal last night vs Lille. Having blanked in his last 2 gameweeks, Salah will be hungry to produce yet another big haul, in what has already been a record-breaking season for the Liverpool no. 11.

Eberechi Eze - £6.7m - MID - Crystal Palace - vs Brentford (H)

Crystal Palace’s favorable run of fixtures has produced great results for them and also for their star player, Eberechi Eze. Averaging 5.8 points in his last 5 games, Crystal Palace’s no. 10 has provided consistent returns since GW 19, registering 4 assists during this time.

Leandro Trossard - £6.8m - MID - Arsenal - vs Wolves (A)

In the absence of Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard has stepped up to provide Arsenal with the goals and assists, registering a G/A of 3 in his last 2 games in the league. A favorable fixture against Wolves, who have one of the worst defensive records in the league this season, allows Trossard to continue his great form and produce a big return for his backers in this gameweek.

Chris Wood (VC) - £7.1m - FWD - Nottingham Forest - vs Bournemouth (A)

Chris Wood’s phenomenal season just keeps on delivering as the veteran striker recorded yet another double-digit haul in his previous game against Southampton, by scoring one and setting up another, to register a 12-point haul to his name. Averaging a staggering 6.1 points per match in the entire season, Wood’s sensational season will be remembered by the FPL managers for many years to come.

Ollie Watkins - £8.9m - FWD - Aston Villa - vs West Ham United (A)

Aston Villa’s star striker is back with the goals as he is back to being a regular starter for Unai Emery and Villa. Despite Jon Dhuran’s return, Watkins has started in the last 4 games for Villa in the Premier League, while also scoring 3 goals and providing an assist in those games. Watkins' form makes him a player in demand again, with a total of 110,000+ transfers in so far, prior to a favorable game against West Ham at home for Villa’s no. 11.

Alexander Isak - £9.5m - FWD - Newcastle United - vs Southampton (A)

Having blanked for the first time since GW 14, Isak remains one of the most clinical and consistent players in the game this season. Averaging an incredible 6.8 points per match this season, along with a form of 8.0, Newcastle’s no. 9 would be aiming to bounce back strongly as he faces a vulnerable Southampton defence.

The deadline for gameweek 23 of FPL is on Saturday, 25th January, at 6:30 pm IST (2:00 pm BST).
