FC Barcelona have reportedly set their eyes on Bayern Munich and England no. 9 Harry Kane to replace Robert Lewandowski next summer.
Hansi Flick and co. consider the 32-year-old as the best replacement possible for the Polish striker, whose contract with Barça expires in June.
Kane has a clause in his contract with the Bavarians that would allow him to leave for £57 million in the summer transfer window next year. The Catalan club consider this as a lucrative opportunity to grab the Englishman at a bargain price.
The 32-year-old is easily one of the most prolific goal scorers of all time, and he's proven it at Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspurs.
He has bagged 108 goals in just 113 apps for the Bavarian giants, becoming the fastest player in this century to reach the 100-goal landmark in Europe’s top five leagues.
Kane has previously said he is open to extending his contract beyond 2027, but the prospect of joining Barça could quite easily make him change his mind.
Is Harry Kane the right fit for FC Barcelona?
Robert Lewandowski is 37 years old, and his contract is expiring soon at Barcelona, which has prompted the Catalans to look for alternatives. Harry Kane is being considered as a top target to replace the Pole, but is he the ideal replacement?
Hansi Flick's side desperately seek a physical no. 9 with the ability to drop deep and create chances simultaneously. Kane ticks all these boxes perfectly.
The Englishman’s playmaking skills are second to none in the world, and we've seen his ability to create chances for runners in behind opposition defences. He could easily link up with wingers like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha and form a lethal trio up front, just like he's achieved at Bayern with Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala.
Kane is a proven goalscorer just like Lewandowski, averaging 25-30 goals per season, which is an ideal output for the Catalan giants. He would not only add creativity up top but also eagle-accurate finishing.
The 32-year-old would also bring ample experience into the young Barça squad, ideally replacing a mentor like Lewandowski. Players like Yamal and Fermin Lopez could learn a lot while playing alongside a top-quality no. 9 like Kane.
However, signing the Englishman would only be a short-term yet expensive replacement for the Polish striker. Kane is 32 years old and would most likely demand a higher salary than Lewandowski which could pose to be an obstacle for Joan Laporta and co.
Kane has already succeeded in replacing Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich and ideally could do it again at Hansi Flick's FC Barcelona as well.
